“Dare to Care, Be Willing to Share.”

This year Cornucopia, in partnership with The United Campus Ministry, the TSAS Community Leadership Program, and the Office of Community Service and Learning does three main basket drives each year - Thanksgiving, Winter Holiday and Earth Day (April). We invite you and/or your office/ group/ organization/ family to put together a basket of food and fun for a family or individuals in our local area. We will provide you with a list of suggested items and specific information on where and when to drop off your basket.

Your or your group may also choose to make a financial donation toward the creation of a basket. We calculate that each basket costs approximately $60-$80 to create.  Based on past experience, we expect as many as 350 requests for baskets from UNH students, staff, contract employees and their families each year. Clearly changes in our employment structures, increasing costs for students, pressures on our international students and a variety of other factors are making it difficult for some of our community members to make ends meet. They need your help!

Cornucopia Care Baskets Fall 2009!

This Thanksgiving season, Cornucopia is looking at the challenging prospect of organizing and distributing over 150 requests for baskets.  We will be organizing food baskets for the winter holidays as well, and expect the same need.  We would appreciate any donations (see our suggestion list for tips on what to donate) that will help us to reach this goal.  For complete details read out open letter to the community and see our flyer.

We'd like to thank all those who have contributed in the past, and hope that we can count on your help and the help of many new contributors this year.  We wish you all a wonderful autumn and Thanksgiving holiday.

How to Organize a Food Drive

Despite the bounty of food in the United States, many of our friends, families, and neighbors are hungry. The Cornucopia Food Pantry has seen record numbers of clients in need of food this year, and the groceries on our shelves are becoming more and more sparse. The goal of a food drive is to fill grocery bags with non-perishable* foods, which are then distributed to Seacoast residents through Cornucopia. Food drives can be highly rewarding, so encourage your friends to participate as well!   For details on how to set one up check out this article.

In General

During the holidays we have specific basket drives, however people are welcome to donate, or request help, at any time of the year. Below are the non-holiday specific forms to be used during this time.  If you would like to donate then please contact us directly.  If you are in need then please contact us with your request.  Our forms provide all the information need and you can also find more information throughout this website.

We would also love your help in food donations to help re-stock our shelves with regularly needed items. This includes coffee, canned fruits and vegetables, soups, rice, cereals, spaghetti, pancake mixes, baking mixes, and toiletries.
